Case Studies
Kareena
Suzanne
I have chosen to have four case studies for my documentary. The first two are Kareena and Suzanne, pictured with their children on the left. These two women have both experienced their own unique losses, and are now pictured with their child they have had since their losses.

Their experiences make the documentary feel very real and raw and hearing their stories is not only very emotional but also somewhat inspiring as to how they have coped. They are both pictured now with their "rainbow babies", which is a term used for babies who have come after babies who have been lost. This was important for me to show as I didn't want the documentary or the production blog to be overly sad or emotional, as I wouldn't want to trigger or upset anyone who might stumble across it whilst looking for help for their own loss.

My next case study is Jo, who is the founder of Philip's Footprints, which is a baby loss support charity local to me in Jersey. Jo set up the charity after experiencing her own loss and has been running it ever since. She spoke to me about the impact the charity has made as a small charity on a small island and also advice she would give to families planning to have another baby after baby loss.

My final case study is Mary, who is a bereavement counsellor for Jersey Hospice Care, another charity local to me. Mary acts as the professional perspective in my documentary and gives advice to families who are grieving the loss of a baby but also wanting to have another baby. She also talks about the benefits of counselling and how you shouldn't be ashamed to admit you may need counselling after suffering a loss.
